Vice President Sara Duterte returned to the Philippines on Sunday evening after more than three weeks in The Netherlands, where her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, had been brought on an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. According to a statement from her office, the Vice President's plane landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at approximately 9:56 p.m. "The Vice President is expected to address any pertinent matters in the coming days," it added. The elder Duterte is facing charges of crimes against humanity at the ICC in relation to his bloody war on drugs when he was president. He was arrested in the Philippines on March 11 and arrived in The Hague a day later. Sara followed, arriving in the Netherlands on March 13. During her nearly month-long stay there, the Vice President worked on putting together her father's defense team. Back in the Philippines, the Vice President will face trial after being impeached by the House of Representatives in February on several grounds, including the alleged misuse of confidential funds. — BM, GMA Integrated News
